Why do I strive for health? Hint: It's not about me

I strive for health because I want to model for my children how to be a healthy and happy person in this world.

I realized I can not change the genetics I passed to them, but I have the power to change their habits and lifestyle, physically, mentally, spiritually, financially.

I have the power to change our lifestyle as a family, how we walk, hike or play. I have the power to set their physical habits, from teaching them to take care of themselves, or setting the food that they would one-day called "comfort food" growing up. I have the power to change their mental habits, their inner voice and the stories they tell themselves. I have the power to change the relationship they have with themselves, with food, nature, money and the people around us.

What I came to realize is... Children don't do what we say, they do what WE DO. And the best way I make an impact for them through their lifetime is by modeling the change in myself.

Through a lot of studying around parenting and psychology, I realized the best thing I can give to my children is the gift of unconditional love. Love without any conditions, expectations, achievements, pressures, etc. That I don't always approve their behaviors and actions and decisions, but nothing would change my love for them.

However at some point through the parenting journey, it became really hard to pour them the love and compassion when I don't have that love and compassion for myself. It is like trying to pour from a cup that is empty. Therefore, the biggest part of my health transformation comes from rebuilding my self-compassion and self-love, by making the time to do what is fulfilling to me. It can be 5 mins, 10 mins to 20 mins a day. The practice is small but the results multiply quickly.

Through my health transformation, I hope to model for my children that their needs and their health matter, how busy their life might become.

Why is being healthy important to you? This is the first step to set the foundation for any of my health coaching program. I believe it is important find out your why and your long-term motivation, so changing health habits can be fun and empowering and fulfilling, because it aligns and move you closer to your dreams.
